Incorrect Card Count

An Unfortunate Typo
This update will specifically address backer concerns about the incorrect card count in the rulebook. The components list was not updated after a very minor change to the game in the last stage of development. We sincerely apologize for any confusion this has caused and we want to reassure everyone that they received a playable copy of the game. We hope this unfortunate typo does not diminish your enjoyment of The Curse of Misfortune Lane. We will always strive to answer any questions or address any concerns as soon as possible. Thank you for bringing this mistake to our attention. We appreciate your support especially to those that provided their card counts for others to reference in the comments section.
The Correct Components List
53 Location Cards
Treehouse = 4 cards total
Other Locations = 7 cards each = 49 cards total
32 Monster Cards
General = 10 cards total (this includes the health card)
Vampire/Werewolf = 4 cards each = 8 cards total
Zombie = 14 cards total

The Curse of Misfortune Lane Has Officially Shipped!
The time has officially come (4 months early)! Flat River has done an incredible job and shipped out all domestic orders as of yesterday. The remaining international orders will be shipped today and all backers will receive their tracking information within the next two days. Please note that this tracking information will be sent to the email you used to create your Kickstarter account. Some of you may even receive your game before the tracking information arrives! (Sorry for the lack of warning. Hopefully the game makes up for it).
If you ordered a SINGLE COPY, you’ll need to track your package with the USPS. If you ordered MULTIPLE COPIES, you’ll need to track your package with FedEx. This was simply the most cost-efficient option for us to reach all of you. We promise we aren’t picking favorites.
CUSTOM CHARACTERS: Important note to our custom backers, you will receive your characters in a separate shipment from the game within the next couple weeks. Because of the limited quantity and extra time spent on creating these characters, we needed to use a domestic manufacturer. We will send you all a private update as soon as we have a delivery date on those, but we thought you’d prefer to have the rest of your game instead of waiting. Thank you for your patience!
New Gameplay Video with Vorpal Board
For those of you that just can’t wait for more Misfortune Lane, we highly recommend checking out this great video released by our friends over at Vorpal Board. We had a great time playing The Curse of Misfortune Lane with Vorpal Board on their unique system. One of us in New York, one in Florida, and one in Oklahoma all playing the same physical card game! See if James (founder of Vorpal Board) can take down these pesky kids with his powerful monster! As a bonus, this session opens with a very light and casual interview with Howling Hog Games (that’s us!).

It's All French to Me

Several months ago, we made a commitment to provide a reference sheet of our rulebook translated into specifically requested languages. Admittedly, it has taken us quite a while to fulfill those requests but we finally have a reference sheet in French!
We outsourced this project to ensure quality (aka we do not speak French) but we would still love for some of our bilingual backers to review the document. Once we receive some feedback that the French reference sheet effectively mirrors the original English version of the rulebook, we will submit a request for a Spanish translation as well.
Thank you for your continued support and look forward to an official update on shipping next week!

Misfortune Lane is Marching to the Warehouse Now!

Estimated Time of Arrival
The Curse of Misfortune Lane has officially cleared customs at the Los Angeles port! All 1,500 copies are contained on a single pallet. Great things come in small packages and you should be getting a small package from us very soon! The pallet is heading to the Impressions warehouse in Indiana with an estimated arrival date of March 7th. Afterwards, about 500 copies will be sent ahead to the Flat River Group center in Michigan for their Kickstarter fulfillment service.
Based on the information we have at this time, it would be entirely reasonable to expect most U.S. backers would receive their copy (or copies) of Misfortune Lane in late March/early April. Please keep in mind that this estimate is not a guarantee, but we will let you know if our expectations change.
We hope that international backers will receive their copy (or copies) within that same time frame. However, we do not presume to understand all the potential complications of international fulfillment (which was one of the many reasons we decided to coordinate with an established fulfillment services group). We will keep you updated throughout this process as we continue to get more information.
Early Kickstarter Delivery???
Some of you might be thinking, this game is going to be delivered 4 months early...how is that even possible?!?!
We know many Kickstarter games from other creators have arrived later than expected (or in rare cases never at all). Every situation is different and in most cases this happens for completely appropriate reasons. From the outside the manufacturing and fulfillment of a board game might seem easy but it definitely is not. There are a lot of opportunities for delays throughout this process.
Fortunately, we made a commitment to under-promise and over-deliver particularly when it came to our estimated shipping date. We probably lost potential backers who didn't want to wait "an entire year" to receive a game from first-time creators but we knew our limits and gave ourselves more than enough time so none of our backers would feel the sting of a "sorry for the delay" email. We definitely think we made the right call. Hopefully you will all agree in just a few short weeks!
